Nebistar

Nebistar contains Nebivolol. Nebistar is a β1 receptor blocker with nitric oxide-potentiating vasodilatory effect used in treatment of hypertension and, in Europe, also for left ventricular failure. It is highly cardioselective under certain circumstances. This helps to decrease blood pressure, helps the heart pump more efficiently, and reduces the workload on the heart.

It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with or without food once a day. Adult: Hypertension- The recommended starting dose is 5 mg once daily, alone or in combination with other agents. It may be increased up to 40 mg once daily, if needed. Heart failure: The recommended starting dose is 1.25 mg once daily. May double dose 1-2 weekly up to a max of 10 mg once daily. Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

Side effects: heart- slow heart rate, heart failure, low blood pressure. Gastrointestinal- Diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain,constipation. Central Nervous System- Headache, dizziness, sleeplessness, weakness, tingling. Respiratory- Wheezing, cough, nasopharyngitis (inflammation of nose and throat). Skin- Rash. Metabolic- Increased level of cholesterol, and uric acid in the blood. Others: fatigue, peripheral edema, joint pain, rash.
